Non-profit, church vendors asked to register for Dec. 4 open house

    Posted on November 25, 2015

Non-profit and church vendors planning to participate in the 2015 Downtown Christmas Open House are asked to register with the Taylor County Historical Society before the event, slated Friday, Dec. 4.

Registration forms are available at the historical society building (located at the corner of Main Street and Washington) and at the Perry Newspapers, Inc., offices. The downtown open house will feature a tree-lighting ceremony in front of the historical society starting at 5:30 p.m.

Welcoming remarks will include the presentation of a Key to the City for Mrs. Claus, who will be filling in for her husband who will be busy greeting children at Katie’s Courtyard and Zeigler’s Florist.

Visitors are encouraged to visit the historical society and vote for a favorite in the second annual Gingerbread House Contest. Entries from non-profit organizations will be “judged” with cash votes. The entry that collects the most “likes” will be able to keep the money donated on its behalf.

A grand sleigh will be parked outside the historical society building, next to the Christmas tree.

“It will make a great background for photos,” organizers said.
