The rebirth of Stephens Spring

After securing the required permits, a community-led effort to restore and improve the county-owned Stephens Spring in Steinhatchee is expected to begin work next week on the estimated $130,000 project.

According to Coordinator and Project Manager Stan Ridgeway, who is volunteering his time in both positions, the 30-day public comment period on the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) permit ended Tuesday, allowing volunteers to move forward.
