No pageant, but queen will be crowned

There will not be a Miss Florida Forest Festival Queen pageant this year, one year after festival officials rebranded the local event, dropping its affiliation with the Distinguished Young Women program.

According to festival volunteers, there were not enough entrants this year to justify a pageant, but the competition is moving forward and a queen will be named Saturday, Oct. 8, during the Little King & Queen Pageant.
