One heart at a time

Bruno shied away from the friendly hands reaching to pet him. The brown and white bulldog didn’t understand why he had to leave the security of the animal shelter that he was just getting used to after a few weeks in its care.

Now, he was tucked inside a crate, lifted into the back of a van and everyone around him was talking in excited voices.
