A few weeks ago, I heaped a bunch of well-deserved praise on “Paddington 2,” which was an excellent family film that managed to truly entertain everyone without pandering to either the children or the adults. Around this same time, the marketing campaign for “Peter Rabbit,” a CGI/live-action hybrid adaptation of the classic works of Beatrix Potter, was ramping up. What I saw in the trailers didn’t leave me much hope for the movie, because it seemed as if the filmmakers were making all of the mistakes that “Paddington 2” managed to avoid.

Fortunately, that wasn’t the case, and “Peter Rabbit” is actually a pretty entertaining movie. The film is directed and co-written by Will Gluck, who gave us the most recent “Annie” adaptation, as well as “Easy A” and “Friends with Benefits.”
