Storm of the Century: Where were you when the waters came?

The first calls for help began around 4 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1993.

A “no-name” system, which would later be known as the Storm of the Century, had slammed into the Taylor County coast with with wind gusts reaching nearly 100 mph and waves as high as 10-12 feet, destroying homes, businesses and lives along the way.

By 10 a.m., most stranded victims had been evacuated from the area.

By then, however, the storm had claimed 10 lives along the Taylor County coast, the most of any county in Florida, which lost 44 people total.
