County seeking funds for Green Street sidewalks

The Taylor County Commission has agreed to seek grant funds from the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) to install a sidewalk along Green Street to Taylor County Elementary School.

But those wishing to walk the route should not expect construction to begin soon. DOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program, which would fund the sidewalk’s construction, solicits proposals five years out and if approved, the project would not begin until Fiscal Year 2019.
