High winds, rain buffet county

Taylor County was beset by high winds most of Wednesday thanks to a line of storms which made its way across the Florida Panhandle, but aside from the gusty conditions and a brief period of rain, the area was spared the worst of the system’s power.

Wind gusts topped 40 mph while sustained winds were recorded as high as 30 mph at the National Weather Service (NWS) station at Perry-Foley Airport.
