PPD awarded for ‘spice’ enforcement

The Perry Police Department (PPD) was in the minority when it first stepped up its enforcement efforts in 2011-12 regarding synthetic cannabis, more commonly known as “spice.”

“We recognized this as a looming epidemic, which was the push at that time to have synthetic substances identified and controlled beyond what the state was doing. We also stepped up enforcement of the city’s spice ordinance addressing the possession and sale of these substances,” Capt. Jamie Cruse said.
