Hurricane season ends not with a bang, but a whimper

The 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season ended Saturday, marking one of the least active seasons in the past 60 years, with the fewest number of hurricanes since 1982.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this season was the sixth-least-active Atlantic hurricane season since 1950, based on the collective strength and duration of named storms and hurricanes.
