Two of Taylor County’s young stars are stepping into the spotlight during back-to-back events this week. (Above) Makenzie Cannon, this year’s Florida Forest Festival Distinguished Young Woman (DYW), will represent the county in the state DYW program Saturday, Jan. 4, in Winter Garden. Additionally, viewers of this year’s Sugar Bowl might have spied a familiar face during the half-time show Thursday night—Miss Taylor County Forestry Queen Katie Johnson was slated to be on the 50-yard line during a twirling performance at the Superdome in New Orleans.
