Longtime Red Cross volunteer dies in car crash

Many may not recognize Walter Eaton’s name, but they no doubt remember his work with Taylor County’s American Red Cross (ARC).

He was the volunteer who helped residents count down to hurricane season by faithfully changing the numbers on the ARC sign posted in the Taylor Square Shopping Center and it was Eaton’s voice you heard whenever you contacted the local disaster services office.
