Scholarship gives Patterson, family 40,000 reasons to smile

One of Sean Patterson’s best gifts this year didn’t come under the tree, but in the form of a giant check with lots and lots of zeroes.

The Taylor County High School senior and JROTC cadet commander has been awarded a $40,000 national Army ROTC scholarship.
