The Taylor County Commission began its budget discussions for the 2015-16 fiscal year Thursday morning facing a $500,000 deficit in its general fund despite nearly $630,000 in projected revenue increases.
Much of the early discussion between the commissioners was focused on some $169,000 in proposed salary increases in the general fund, the majority of which was the result of County Administrator Dustin Hinkel’s attempts to further implement the county’s new pay scale structure based on a study the board commissioned in 2014.
