After toying with the notion of reducing garbage collection to once a week, the Perry City Council opted instead for a “wait and see” course of action Tuesday after learning that an additional work squad from the local prison would soon be back in the city’s service.
While reducing garbage collection from twice a week to once a week would result in a marginal monetary savings, the net gain would have been “having three extra people available four days a week” to handle clean-up projects throughout the city, City Manager Bob Brown said.
