Prior to seeing the first trailer for director Guy Ritchie’s (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”) adaptation of the 1960s espionage series “Man from U.N.C.LE.” the only thing I could have told you about the program was that it had been a 1960s espionage series. A few weeks ago when I was discussing upcoming movies with a friend of mine and the subject turned to “Man from U.N.C.LE.” he managed to encapsulate my anticipation of the film in one simple sentence, “Guy Ritchie films are always entertaining and I see no reason why this will be any different.”

Well, my friend couldn’t have been more right since “Man from U.N.C.LE.” is seriously the most fun I’ve had at the movies in ages and probably one of the top two or three movies of 2015 if we’re going by sheer entertainment value. I would add that this is the most fun action movie I’ve seen since “The Kingsman: Secret Service” but without the hardcore carnage that film was bathed in.

“Man from U.N.C.LE.” boasted stellar performances and lots of action, all coated in a distinctive style that oozes 1960s nostalgia and 21st century personality.

“Man from U.N.C.LE.” is a terribly fun movie filled with memorable characters, strong performances and boatloads of action, all dripping with style. You really can’t ask for more from your summer entertainment and this movie delivers in spades.

The film is rated PG-13 for action violence, some suggestive content, and partial nudity.
