City Council gives itself an 82% raise

Perry City Council members unanimously approved an ordinance nearly doubling their current annual salary Tuesday during the final hearing on the proposal.

Under the ordinance council members’ salaries will increase from $6,315 per year to $11,525 annually. A provision in the ordinance also makes the pay increase retroactive to the beginning of the city’s 2015-16 fiscal year (October).
