Learn about Civil War ladies’ attire Thursday, Feb. 4

The Taylor County Historical Society will host a special meeting Thursday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m., featuring the Tallahassee Ladies Soldiers’ Friend Sewing Society.

Sewing Society members will discuss ladies’ attire during the period of the American Civil War, including examples of day dresses, work dresses and more formal attire.

Underclothing and accessories will be shown as well as examples of hats, shoes and jewelry.

They will also have suggestions on where to obtain period attire as well as ideas on how to make your own.
