Four additional candidates have thrown their hats into the political ring this past week seeking a range of offices that include sheriff and superintendent of schools.
Longtime deputy Wayne Padgett with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office has filed notice he will run for the top law enforcement position in the county.
Roy Dennis Woods, a one-time candidate for sheriff, has set his sight on the superintendent of schools office.
Kenneth Dennis, the county’s longest-serving public official, will seek an unprecedented eighth term for his school board District 5 seat. Dennis was first elected in 1988.
County commission incumbent Malcolm V. Page, Dist. 1, will make a bid for a fourth term. He was elected in 2004.
