Steinhatchee School will remain open for the 2015-16 school year with officials saying the workshop last month (which fueled outrage among parents and the community over the idea that the school) was on the chopping block was never about closing the school.
The Taylor County School Board held its regular meeting in Steinhatchee Tuesday evening with a workshop devoted to developing ideas to increase student enrollment at the school. Originally scheduled to last an hour, the workshop, with about 80 people in attendance, lasted more than 90 minutes and featured an organized presentation from a community committee outlining improvements and proposals to help with the schools enrollment issues.
