On Thursday, Feb. 18, Taylor County Middle School eighth grader Robert Glanton received the Education Commissioner’s Leadership Award at the Florida State Capitol. Glanton, the son of Cappie Nash and Robert Glanton Sr., was chosen for this award in recognition of his academic, athletic and leadership abilities. He was one of four middle and high school students throughout the state to receive this award.
During the presentation it was noted that Robert has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout his middle school career. He participates in football, baseball and basketball, serving as team captain for football and basketball. He is a member of the Boys and Girls Club and volunteers for the club, too. He participated in the Tropicana Speaking Contest for three years and placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd district-wide each year.
