English family, friends walk in support of healthy babies

If you traveled to Tallahassee Saturday, April, 27, you may have seen a slew of purple overflowing from Tom Brown Park as the Big Bend area observed the annual March of Dimes March for Healthy Babies Walk.
Teams gathered from Capital Health Plan (CHP), North Florida Women’s Care (NFLWC), Capital Regional Medical Center (CRMC), Tallahassee Primary Care Associates (TPCA), Publix, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH) NICU and many more. But the most important teams participating were the family teams–those that have walked in the shoes of taking care of a premature baby.

Everyone who encounters this cause should stop and look at its mission. It’s because of the March of Dimes we have the Apgar, which is used after birth to evaluate a baby’s health level. It is also because of the March of Dimes we have the polio vaccine and the surfactant medication which is used in treatment of respiratory distress syndrome. My daughter Addison had that at birth. If it were not for these medical advancements, I would hate to know where we would be,” Gena said.
