A parade of supporters joined the Perry City Council Wednesday, May 18, in breaking ground for the “cornerstone” of the revitalization plan for downtown Perry, Rosehead Park lake.
“Today we celebrate the start of the final phase of Rosehead Park. The construction that begins today will add a lake that will eventually provide fishing, an amphitheater that will accommodate a few thousand folks, a 3,000-square-foot pavilion, a large gazebo suitable for weddings, a three-quarter kilometer (.46-mile) walking trail, a 100-tree cypress pond, two large bathroom buildings and more than 6,700 new plants and trees as well as plenty of space to enjoy leisurely activities, in sun and in shade,” Mayor Mike Deming said.
