Federal forecasters are predicting the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season, which began Wednesday, June 1, will most likely be near-normal, although officials say forecast uncertainty in the climate signals that influence the formation of Atlantic storms make predicting this season particularly difficult.
The annual hurricane season will run through Nov. 30.
