The Taylor County Career Academy, which has been located at Taylor Technical Institute (TTI), will move to Taylor County High School (TCHS) next school year.
Superintendent Paul Dyal said the decision, which is expected to affect about 58 students, was made for two reasons. First, the credit recovery program at TCHS uses the same online curriculum and thus having the two programs at two separate schools is a “duplication of services.” Second, the Career Academy students are the only ones at TTI that count as FTEs and are required to take the Florida Standards Assessment, meaning TTI is subject to the state’s school grading system.
