Cone pays $5,890 fee, gets in the running for Clerk of Court

Three new candidates have filed to run for local offices, including Calvin Cone, who is challenging incumbent Clerk of Court Annie Mae Murphy.

Cone filed his paperwork this week to run for clerk of court as a Republican, paying the qualifying fee of $5,890.62. Prior to his entry into the race, Murphy was one of three constitutional officers, along with Tax Collector Mark Wiggins and Supervisor of Elections Dana Southerland, who were unopposed in seeking new terms in office.
