After a fourth and final workshop Tuesday morning, the Taylor County Commission appears set on its 2016-17 budget, which includes raises for most county employees funded by a slight increase in the county’s property tax millage rates–the first rate increase in more than an decade.
The board will hold a special meeting today (Wednesday) at 9 a.m. at the Courthouse Annex to set its proposed millage rates, with commissioners stating their readiness to adopt the roll-back rate–which is the property tax rate that would generate the same level of revenue as the current year–and use those funds to give raises.
