Consolidated Communications Holdings, Inc., announced Monday that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire FairPoint Communications, Inc., in an all-stock merger transaction valued at about $1.5 billion, including debt.
FairPoint, which provides Taylor County with land lines plus business and broadband communications, operates in 17 states and employs some 2,600 employees.
