    Posted on December 1, 2017

George Yancie Brannen, 91, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, in Perry.
Yancie was born July 4, 1926, in Fitzgerald, Ga., to James Washington Brannen and Nellie Mae Millican Brannen.
Yancie honorably served our country in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Brannen attended Lakeside Baptist Church for 61 years and served his church in many leadership roles, serving as chairman of the deacons until he became ill. Yancie retired from Procter and Gamble after 30-plus years of employment.
He and his wife, Annie Jo, were very involved in Red Cross disaster relief work, traveling to many states during times of crisis. His greatest joy was fellowshipping with his family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, and served as the first president of the Three Rivers Hunt Club. Yancie was a devoted husband, a doting granddaddy, and a fantastic father and role model.

Morgan Jr.); his brother, Zara Arthur Brannen, affectionately known as Uncle Moe, (Imogene Parker Brannen); three grandchildren, James Yancie Brannen (Kelli), Henry Blake Morgan (Elizabeth) and David Yancie Morgan; and six great-grandchildren, Bain, Charlie, Kylie, Logan, Henry and Eric Edsel; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church with Pastor Hurstle Laxton and Bobby Ritch officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterward in Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the service.
