    Robert Lee Hamilton Jr.

    Robert Lee Hamilton Jr. (JrMan) was born Sept. 2, 1968, in Perry, to Altermease Nesbitt and Robert Lee Hamilton Sr.
    Robert loved the Lord and dedicated his life through baptism at a young age at New Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church in Perry under the leadership of Pastor R. J. Keaton where he was an active youth choir member. He transitioned from this earth to eternal life Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017.
    Robert graduated from Taylor County High School in June 1987. He loved playing the drums and gained the nickname “HAM” through his band director, the Rev. Izell Montgomery. The nickname “HAM” followed him through his military service career. He was an outstanding snare drum player. He was also a comedian at heart. Robert loved football and basketball. He was the king of “DARING” to see who wins. Making people laugh was one of his greatest accomplishments. Most importantly, Robert loved his family.
    Upon graduation, Robert took an oath and entered the United States Navy in September 1987. Petty Officer Third Class in rank, Boatswain’s Mate Hamilton deployed to Operation Desert Storm and survived an explosion on his assigned ship, the USS IOWA BB61. He received many awards of recognition while in service. Robert received an honorable discharge in 1997.
    He was preceded in death by: his great grandmother, Lillie Gert Williams (Modeah); maternal grandparents, Adury Lee Johnson and Charlie Miller; paternal grandparents, Lillie Cooper and Lodis Hamilton; and one sibling, Barbra Diannah Hamilton.
    He leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, Altermease Nesbitt and Robert Lee Hamilton, Sr. (Christine) of Orlando; two sons, Robert Lee Hamilton III of Norfolk, Va., and Jayden Hamilton of Orlando; one daughter, Brittley Hamilton of Norfolk,Va.,andchildren, Jeffrey Corprew and Lakreisha Corprew of Norfolk, Va., DJuan Whetsel of Perry, and Malia Brown of Orlando; one granddaughter, Taniya Corprew of Norfolk, Va., and grandchildren LaZiya, Jeffrey, Tylorance, Trinity, Kaitlin and DJuan Jr.; two sisters, Robin Hamilton of Orlando, and Allison McDaniel (Anthony) of Hinesville, Ga.; two brothers, Daryl August (Mia) of Orlando, and Ahmad Hamilton of Sacramento, Calif., two great aunts, Mary Lee Nesbitt-Brown of Monticello, and Barbara Newkirk (Maurice) of St. Petersburg; two great uncles, Archie Nesbitt Jr. (Linda) and Wallace Nesbitt (Beatrice) of Perry; devoted family friends, Michael Bailey and Elizabeth Whetsel; close friend, Rosyce Dixon; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m., at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
    The family will receive friends today (Friday) from 5-7 p.m., at Trinity Funeral Home.
    Interment services will be held Monday, Oct. 9, at Tallahassee National Cemetery, at 10 a.m.
