Price Carmichael, 100, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Westminster Oaks in Tallahassee. At Westminster he was known as “The Singer” due to spontaneously breaking out in song and singing from his heart.
Price was born in Dowling Park, but raised his family in Perry. Even after working at Buckeye for 35 years he still considered himself a farmer and made a lifelong hobby of gardening; once he even planted a vegetable garden in his wife’s beloved flower beds. When he said, “Let’s ramble,” you knew it was time for another trip. He repeatedly traveled throughout the United States and Canada. After retirement he made his home in Panama City, where he was an avid fisherman. Daily, before sunrise, you would find him fishing on the pier with the “Old Timers.”
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Reid Carmichael, whom he adored during their 60 years of marriage.
Price will be dearly remembered and missed by: his four loving daughters, Becky Stephens of Greenville, Vicky Murphy and Sarah (Jacky) Winters, both of Perry, and Ann (Steve) Buckhalter of Tallahassee; and six grandchildren, Tori Carmichael-Wiles, Kristin (Steven) Carroll, Joshua (Jenny) Winters, Georgia (Craig) Thompson, Matthew Buckhalter and Jim Stephens; as well as six great grandchildren, Courtney Dyer, Conner Dyer, Aaden Winters, Jackson Winters, Brayden Carroll and Price Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Perry Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 1100 E. Green Street, Perry, FL 32347.
