Sara Joyce Griner Jackson, 95, of Perry, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017. She was born in Perry to parents JM Tally Griner and Simmie Passmore Griner Patterson. She lived in Perry all her life except for stays at St. Augustine Plantation and Broadview Assisted Living Facilities in Tallahassee.

Sara Joyce was predeceased by: her husband of almost 60 years, James C. Jackson.

She is survived by: her two children, Julie (John) Hansen and Steve (Kathy) Jackson; grandchildren, R. Heath (Gay) Annin, Scott (Cathrine) Hansen, and Anne Hansen; two great grandsons, Jackson Cole Annin and Drew Hansen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

Sara Joyce supported her husband in a variety of business ventures in Perry over the years. They are best remembered as the original owner/operators (1946 – 1956) of Jackson’s Bakery (now Johnson’s) and the owners of Quality Cleaners and Laundry. She is also known for the delicious baked goods she prepared for the First Methodist Church functions over a 75-year period. But, more than these, she was known for her beautiful smile and the unconditional love she shared with everyone.

The family will be forever grateful for the loving care and support that Sara Joyce received from the staff at Broadview Assisted Living Facility and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Methodist Church in Perry on Friday, Jan. 5, with visitation in the Memorial Hall at 11:30 a.m. and a service at 12:15 a.m. A private graveside service will be held later.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the First Methodist Church, Perry in her name.

Todd Wahlquist with Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193, www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
