Mrs. Florence Marie Sherrill went to be home with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, in Lake City.
Mrs. Sherrill resided at Baya Point Rehab and Nursing Center for the last two months. She quietly passed in her sleep, leaving her earthly body and gaining her heavenly one. She is finally safe and without pain in the arms of our sweet Jesus.
Mrs. Sherrill is preceded in death by: her parents, Bradford and Beulah Dodson; and two sisters, Jane Dodson and Rosemary Irene Dodson.
She is survived by: one sister, Bonnie Daffron (Tom). She is survived, as well, by her loving husband of 64 years, the Rev. Leroy Sherrill and six children, Lynn Sherrill, Rose Verlander, Kathy Sherrill, Bobi Vickery, Mary Jane Fish of Perry and Joseph Sherrill; two son-in-laws, John Fish of Perry and Bill Vickery; and one daughter-in-law, Colette Sherrill. She is also survived by twelve of the most amazing grandchildren, Alethia Sherrill, Matthew Verlander (Ally), Adam Verlander (Katie), Brandon Nolan (Tinuviel), Ryan (Kari), Kevin Vickery (Jen), Clint Vickery, Claire Vickery, Brittany Niles, Jordan Niles, Abby Ariquezzo (Matt) and Micah Sherrill. Besides these family members, she and her husband had been blessed with 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides being very involved with her family, Mrs. Sherrill worked beside her husband in the many churches he pastored. Since their retirement, her membership has been at Southside Baptist Church in Lake City. Mrs. Sherrill was very creative with cooking, books, crafts and helping plan church functions. She always took great care that all her endeavors have special meanings to those for whom she created. Mrs. Sherrill will be greatly missed by her family and her community.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Sherrill was held on Friday, Jan. 5, at Union Baptist Church in O’Brien, Florida with Rev. Hugh Sherrill officiating and assisted by Rev. Kevin Hall.
