Gene Wayne Hunter, 68, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at his home in Perry.
He was born June 12, 1949 in Taylor County, where he was a life-long resident. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and loved traveling and visiting with family. Gene was an avid Florida Gators fan! He enjoyed people and visiting co-workers. Even after he retired from the City of Perry as a utility mechanic, they would consult with him on many things about the city, and he truly enjoyed that camaraderie. He loved working on big machines, playing chess, checkers, hunting, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Alvada (née Courtney) and John Hunter.
He is survived by 2 brothers: Ralph Hunter, of Perry and Earl Hunter of Bradenton; and many nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Beggs Funeral Home in Perry, with burial at Shiloh Cemetery.
Gene will be greatly missed.
