Suspect bails; caught after three-mile chase

A Perry man with an active arrest warrant in Madison County bailed out of a moving vehicle and escaped into the woods near Wayside Park on U.S. 19 North before being captured after a nearly three-mile foot chase in the dark.

Robert Shane Willis, 38, had been on the run from law enforcement officers for more than a week when Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Capt. Jimmy Cash initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle just south of Wayside Park late Thursday afternoon, Jan. 11.
