Doyle Joseph Padgett

Doyle Joseph Padgett, 86, died Jan. 15, 2018, in Lafayette Healthcare and Rehab in Mayo. Doyle was born Jan. 28, 1931, in Perry to Nolan Padgett and Nettie Odom Padgett.

Doyle was in several gospel quartets and led the choir at his church for over 50 years. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. Doyle worked in many different roles with Buckeye Forestry.

Doyle was preceded in death by: his parents, Nolan and Nettie Padgett; son, Randy Padgett; brother, Harold Padgett; and sister, Lucille Burch.

He is survived by: his wife of 69 years, Janie Padgett; daughter, Ruth Ann Whitfield and her husband Ray; daughter-in-law, Dianne Padgett; grandchildren, Josh Padgett and his wife Kenya, Curt Whitfield and his wife Suzanne and Drew Whitfield and his wife Caitlin; and five great grandchildren, Jordan, Brent, Noah, Karis, and Raylann.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Bro. Curt Whitfield and Bro. Ron Blair officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18 at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
