    ‘Obvious violations’ of canal ordinance cited

    One coastal property owner is urging county commissioners not to wait until canal dredging begins to address what he calls “obvious” violations of a county ordinance regulating how far into public canals coastal property owners can build private docks, decks and boat houses.

    Dr. Ken Hutchins warned commissioners that the problem could be made much worse when the county hires a contractor to begin federally-funded canal dredging in coming years.
