County seeks to name bridge in Sheffield’s honor

County commissioners have approved a resolution requesting the state designate the U.S. Highway 98 bridge over the Econfina River in honor of local war hero and former prisoner of war SSGT Edward C. Sheffield.

At their March 5 meeting, county commissioners voted 4-0 to recognize and honor Sheffield’s service to his country by requesting that the Hwy. 98 bridge be dedicated and re-named in his honor.
