4-H parents to county: ‘Leave us alone’ at Forest Capital Hall

    Posted on March 14, 2018

An advisory committee’s “vision” to see the local Forest Capital Hall (FCH) armory building “used to its fullest potential” — by serving as a visitor’s welcome center and providing office space for Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Development Council (TDC) and Taylor County Development Authority (TCDA) officials — has been abandoned after local 4-H parents and volunteers urged county commissioners to “leave us alone!”

County Commission Chairwoman Pam Feagle presented the FCH advisory committee’s “vision” and recommendations at the county’s Feb. 20 meeting and again at a special March 9 workshop, however commissioners heard from numerous parents, who complained of not being informed or included in the process and who were strongly opposed to any effort to relocate County Extension Office or 4-H staff and classrooms.
