Two free informational workshops are planned for individuals who may be planning to run for public office in the upcoming election.
The first workshop is set for Tuesday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Supervisor of Elections office (now located at 433 U.S. Highway 19 North).
The second worship will be held Tuesday, April 24, from 6-9 p.m. at the same location.
Space is limited.
“The workshops will consist of a three-hour curriculum focused on the fundamentals of becoming, and being, a candidate. Participants will be introduced to each step involved in the process, including pre-filing, collecting petitions, qualifying and online campaign finance reports. Campaign pitfalls will also be discussed, as well as audits, recounts and contested elections,” Supervisor of Elections Dana Southerland said.
There is no cost to attend, but those planning to participate are asked to contact Ellie Grubbs at the elections office (838-3515).
