Two local campaigns — one spearheaded by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and the other, Student Government at Taylor County Middle School — were recognized at the United Way of the Big Bend’s (UWBB) 75th anniversary Campaign Finale held March 20 at Goodwood Carriage House in Tallahassee.
Taylor County United Way Campaign Chair Jan Walker accepted the awards on behalf of both groups. TCSO was honored with the “Outstanding New Campaign” award.
“Sheriff Wayne Padgett assisted with the kickoff and provided his employees opportunities to learn about the services that United Way provides in Taylor County,” United Way’s Glenda Hamby said. The “Rising Star Award,” which recognizes a campaign leader whose efforts accounted for the greatest increase in money raised over the previous year, was presented to the Student Government at the middle school. “These students, with the support of their advisor Sally MacNeill, raised $2,000. They will be recognized May 15 at the Taylor County Breakfast Finale,” Hamby said.
