Jail repairs on the rise

Unexpected maintenance costs at the Taylor County Jail led to county commissioners authorizing the transfer of more than $7,000 from a budgetary reserve fund to cover the costs of repairs.

During the county’s April 2 meeting, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Chief Deputy Chuck Mincy appeared before the commission to request funding help after the sheriff’s office was forced to address several significant maintenance issues at the nearly 30-year-old facility in recent months.
