    Robert Harrell Couey

    Robert Harrell Couey, 87, died April 10, 2018 in Perry. Harrell was born Jan. 3, 1931 in Laurens County, Ga., to Robert Bishop Couey and Florrie Mae Holder Couey.

    Harrell honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was considered a hard worker who loved to work in his yard. He was a homebody and enjoyed working around his house and spending time with his grandchildren.

    Harrell was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert and Florrie Mae Couey; brothers, Buddy, Billy and Jimmy Couey; sisters, Christine Methins, Linda Thurman and Loretta Whitehead; and one grandson, Brian Holmes.

    He is survived by: his wife of 43 years, Jeanette Couey; children, Debbie Hoover, Bobby (Pam) Couey, Ashley Couey, Edna Mae Couey, Anne Holmes, Gary (Susan) Holmes and Greg Holmes; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters Rosalind Clark and Lynette Adams; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Pastor Wallace Holmes officiating. Interment will follow immediately afterwards in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry.

    All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
