Prescription drug abuse hits ‘close to home’ for two commissioners

Stating that the prescription drug addiction epidemic has affected at least one member of every family in Taylor County, county commissioners voted 4-0 in favor of joining a proposed class action lawsuit against the opioid manufacturing and distribution industry last week.

After hearing emotional personal testimony from two board members, the Taylor County Commission became the latest governmental entity to join a nationwide movement to address the growing burden of opioid dependence.
