Foley Reunion April 21: ‘Mean boys’ and ‘the wrong side of the tracks’

    Posted on April 20, 2018

Ask Louis Shaw where he grew up, and he boasts “on the wrong side of the tracks.”

The “tracks” he refers to is the railroad that crossed the mill town of Foley, which had sprang up in the shadow of the Brooks-Scanlon sawmill established here in late 1920s/early 1930s.

PHOTO: (From left) Shirley Hall, Harry Hall, Louis Shaw and Dianne Shaw revisit childhood memories looking at photos of the former Brooks-Scanlon mill and town of Foley. The photos will be displayed this Saturday at the 15th annual Foley Reunion at Forest Capital Hall, which starts at 10 a.m.
