Order up, at Holmes Grill

Countless diners can remember the hamburgers served hot and fresh at Holmes Grill. The former restaurant was part of a roadside motel complex built along U.S. 19 North. But like many of the motels of its day, time took a toll on the buildings, which were torn down one by one. This past Friday, the last remaining building from the complex, the restaurant itself, was bulldozed. Owners said the building was “simply too far gone to save.”
