Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) confirmed here: Local woman, horse infected

A Taylor County woman is fighting for her life after contracting Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) through a mosquito bite, according to family members.

While Florida Department of Health officials have confirmed one case of a Taylor County horse infected with the potentially deadly virus, they said their department does not yet have any confirmed human cases of EEE in Taylor County as of 5 p.m. Tuesday.
