    Annie Josephine Brannen

    Annie Josephine Brannen, 91, died June 21, 2018, in Perry, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Annie Jo was born March 20, 1927, in Boyd, to Jefferson William Walker and Bessie Duncan Walker. She was united in marriage to George Yancie Brannen on January 1, 1947, after his return from active service duty during World War II. He preceded her in death September 24, 2017. They were happily married and devoted to each other for seventy years.

    Annie was of the Baptist faith and a dedicated member of Lakeside Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary for many years. She loved her family and is remembered by them as a selfless, loving and Godly Christian woman. Annie was an expert seamstress who sewed for her family, as well as for others, including original wedding dresses and bridal party attire. After her husband’s retirement in 1989, they both became very involved in Red Cross disaster relief work, traveling to many states during times of crisis.

    Annie was preceded in death by: her husband, George Yancie Brannen; her parents, Jefferson William Walker and Bessie Duncan Walker; and her brothers, Luther Walker, C. D. Walker and Charlie Walker.

    She is survived by: her son, James M. Brannen (Mitzi McBride) and her daughter, Elizabeth Anne Morgan (Fred E. Morgan, Jr.); her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Zara Arthur Brannen – affectionately known as Uncle Moe – and Imogene Brannen; her three grandsons, James Yancie Brannen (Kelli), Henry Blake Morgan (Elizabeth) and David Yancie Morgan; six great-grandchildren, Bain, Charlie, Kylie, Logan, Henry and Eric; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held Monday, June 25, at 5 p.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Ruff officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Pisgah Cemetery. The family received friends from 4-5 p.m. Monday, June 25, at Lakeside Baptist Church.

    All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry. Donations in Annie Jo’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Project, Inc., 301 East Tharpe Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32303.
