Marvel scores another fun hit with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’

Back in July 2015, “Ant-Man” hit theaters as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) 12th installment. It came on the heels of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and provided not only a relatively small, fun adventure after all of the world-ending stakes, but it also gave newcomers to the franchise a place to jump in without a lot of knowledge of the prior films.

Three years later, we have “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which also arrives in theaters on the heels of massive, superhero team-up (“Avengers: Infinity War”), which had the entire universe at stake. Again, we get a fun adventure, that despite being the MCU’s 20th film, requires very little background to understand what is going on. It is also a wonderful sequel, building on the foundation of the original, providing just the right amount of comedic call-backs and delivering a new and interesting story with the characters we grew to like the first time around.
