The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) initial budget request for the upcoming 2018-19 budget year initially totaled just over $1 million more than the current year budget, however that increase has been pared down to $454,669.
Almost half of the initial $1 million increase ($476,000) will be offset by state funds (paid to the Taylor County School Board and passed along to the county) to help cover the cost of providing eight (including four new) school resource officers (SROs) as mandated by the Florida Legislature under a recently-passed school safety bill.
